Marilyn Magaram Center

SCIFTS Dinner

May 18, 2018

On May 16, 2018, the Southern California Institute of Food Technologists Section hosted a dinner to present the Distinguished Achievement Award to Dr. Martin F. Sancho-Madriz. This award began in 1954 and was designed to honor individuals in the Southern California area who have distinguished themselves by significant contributions to the food industry, the betterment of the Section and National's goal for the improvement of the health and welfare of mankind. Dr. Martin F. Sanch-Madriz is their 66th awardee. In 2005, the Marilyn Magaram Center's founding staff Dr. Tom Chen and Dr. Smith received the Distinguished Achievement Award.

Our Executive Director Dr. Annette Besnilian, Food Science Coordinator Julie Jordan, and Food Science Consultant Diem Nguyen attended this dinner and also received the Educational Research Grant that was awarded to the Marilyn Magaram Center by SCIFTS last month. The grant we received will go toward the purchase of a Fluorescence Microplate Reader, Centrifuge, and Accessories for use in Antioxidant Research.
