FAQ's - Updated 2/17/21

I heard the internship requirement might be changing. Could you explain?

Due to COVID’s continued spread throughout the state of California, the Department of Management will be extending the usage of certain electives to substitute for the internship requirement. Please see eligible electives below:

**Please note the information below applies to Management majors, Management minors, and Entrepreneurship minors only. If you are graduating any time before Fall 2021 (this means you would be taking your very last class in Summer 2021), you may take a 3rd MGT elective class in either Spring 2021 or Summer 2021 to substitute for the internship requirement. The full list of acceptable substitutes is:,

BUS 310: Foundations of Entrepreneurship

BUS 410: Business Development and Operation for Entrepreneurs

BUS 491CS: Small Business Consulting

MGT 450: Organization Change and Development

MGT 454: Leadership, Power and Politics

MGT 456: Negotiation & Conflict Management

MGT 458: Decision-Making

MGT 460: Strategic Human Resources

MGT 462: Business and Society

MGT 464: International Business Management

MGT 468: Crisis Management

MGT 496G: Blockchain Management

MKT 498C: Internship Marketing (approved virtual

internships only contact CEPD for spring 2021)

What if I already have an internship, or still want to do one?

We fully support you still doing an internship on your own. It will not count toward your degree unless it is a virtual internship and approved by the Career Education and Professional Development office (CEPD).   Register for an upcoming Internship Orientation workshop.  Make sure your internship is pre-approved by CEPD and request a permission number. If you have questions about virtual internships, or would like a permission number  please consult www.csun.edu/NazarianCEPD, email business.internships@csun.edu or call (818) 677-4697.

When is the last day I can self-drop my classes for Spring 2021?

Students will be able to self-drop their courses through their CSUN portal up until the 4th week of classes (February 19, 2021).

The class section I want is “closed”. Can I still add the course?

Students will not be given permission numbers to “closed” sections.  Contact the Management department office at (818) 677-2457 or email mgtmkt@csun.edu .   Consider taking the class in summer 2021.

I have not applied for graduation but meet all the prerequisites to take BUS 497A Capstone in Fall 2021.

If you plan on taking BUS 497A Capstone in summer you must have a summer graduation date of 8/24/21.   You may self-enroll during the summer registration period starting late March.

Plan on graduating fall 2021? Apply for graduation now and self-enroll in BUS 497A Capstone during the fall registration period.

BUS 497A Capstone is for graduating seniors and should be taken in the last semester. No exceptions.  Verify that you have met all the prerequisites and apply for graduation: https://www.csun.edu/admissions-records/online-graduation-application

Allow 3-5 business days for the graduation application to be processed and then verify your graduation date has changed to summer or fall.

Management majors & MGT 360

Management majors:  If you have not taken MGT 360, Management and Organizational Behavior, please be aware that you must achieve a grade of ‘C’ or higher to proceed to other MGT courses. So, if you get a grade of ‘C-‘ or lower, you will have to repeat MGT 360 before you can take any other MGT courses, likely delaying your graduation by a semester. No exceptions.
