Classrooms & Auditoriums

CSUN offers a variety of rooms to the public, including: classrooms, auditoriums, conference rooms and computer labs.

  • Standard classrooms at CSUN hold 10 to 85 people. Amenities may include black boards, white boards, standard desks or free standing tables, tiered seating, overhead projectors and TV/VCR/DVD. SMART rooms (with data projectors) are available upon request.
  • Auditoriums hold 100 to 150 people. Most Auditoriums are equipped with a PA system, TV/VCR/DVD, data projectors and projection screens.
  • Conference Rooms are available in a variety of sizes and shapes that hold 5 to 25 people.
  • Computer Labs are available on campus at a rate of $450 per day. This includes access to Internet, CSUN databases, computers, and printers. A Licensing Liaison is required to supervise the entire day at $42 per hour.

* Note: Organizations requesting the use of technical equipment including TV's require a Licensing Liaison to assist in set-up and take-down of all University equipment. The fee for the Licensing Liaison is $42 per hour with a four-hour minimum.

Open Space & Gardens

CSUN offers a variety of "park-like" spaces and areas large enough to accommodate thousands of people. The Sierra Quad, Bayramian Lawn, Cleary Court, the Bookstore Lawn, etc. are some of the many available spaces.

The Botanic Garden, Greenhouses and Fish Pond are excellent locations for weddings, commitment ceremonies, receptions, company picnics, and filming (see filming rates). These locations are close to the Orange Grove Bistro, an upscale restaurant that provides in house dinning as well as catering services.

Please note: Our office does not provide tables, chairs or arrange for food. There are no lights in these locations for evening events. For catering, visit the University Club website.

Athletic Facilities

CSUN offers a variety of athletic facilities including gyms, locker rooms, weight rooms, dance studios, basketball, volleyball and tennis courts, athletic fields, Olympic tracks, swimming pools, baseball and softball fields that are available to the public.

Restaurants

The Orange Grove Bistro is surrounded by one of the San Fernando Valley's few remaining orange groves.

The following facilities serve as a special place to entertain and hold meetings, events, and social activities.

  • The Orange Grove Bistro is a backdrop for a quiet lunch with a view of beautiful outdoor surroundings.
  • The Lamb's Lounge has a fireplace and a piano for entertainment.
  • The Northridge Room complete with audio/visual equipment is well suited for business meetings.

Outdoors there's the beautiful Orange Grove, two large lawns, a wedding ceremony site with a gazebo, and a full-service bar.

The Orange Grove Bistro staff is available to assist with a variety of events including receptions, social functions, meetings and catering.


Specialty Locations, Theatres, & Planetarium

Theatres & Recital Halls
CSUN offers a variety of Theatres and a Recital Hall for rent to the public.

The Little Theatre seats 200, and includes a large stage.

The Campus Theatre seats 400, and has an oversized stage with an extended workshop attached. The dressing rooms are located under the stage and can be reached by a circular stairway. There are five private dressing rooms and two chorus rooms which accomodate up to 20 actors each.

The Music Recital Hall seats 130, includes a greenroom, and several pianos.

The Valley Performing Arts Center - Great Hall

A state of the art building which boasts a 1600-seater performance hall equipped with the latest in acoustical system and impressive design features perfect to host theatre, orchestra and dance performances.

Please note: The fees listed below are for the rental of the facility only. Fees for lights, props, stage equipment, and piano tuning are not included.

Once the use of the facility is approved, a meeting with the Stage Manager is required to determine which equipment is needed. The fee for the Licensing Liaison is $42 per hour with a four-hour minimum.

Planetarium
The Bianchi Planetarium is capable of seating up to 105 visitors and is equipped with a "Spitz-512" projector, capable of recreating the night sky on the dome with accuracy and brilliance. Over 2,000 stars, the five visible planets, and all of the apparent motions of the sky come alive overhead in a unique and relaxing environment. USE OF MULTIPLE LOCATIONS ON SAME DAY. Facility fees will be assessed for use of each Major Location. (Smaller locations, such as a classrooms, or an outside lawn area, may be bundled as one Major Location.) In the case of multiple camera crews working in different locations, a police officer and a liaison will be assigned to each location and billed accordingly.

Please Note:

  1. CSUN students are not charged with filming fees for student class projects approved by the Cinema & Television Director. Please note that permit letter from the CTVA Director is required at all times during filming.
  2. Any Company conducting a documentary or newscast should contact the Public Relations Office at (818) 677-2130. The campus does not charge film documentaries or newscasts.
  3. Students from other schools and universities must submit a letter from their instructor detailing the class project. The Student must present their student ID card to the Licensing Office and submit their script. The Student is also required to submit insurance and sign an agreement that the film will not be used for commercial purposes. The cost to the student will be a $500 facility fees per day, $66.00 per hour for Police Officer to escort them while filming, and other direct cost or administrative fees.
