Engagement Conference Highlights

November 18, 2021

Thank you to all of the presenters and participants who helped make the inaugural 2021 CSUN Engagement Conference such a success! The conference, which took place on Friday, October 29th, was a brainchild and a collaboration of Undergraduate Studies, the Office of Faculty Development, Academic Technology, and the Faculty Technology Center.

This inter-disciplinary event brought together faculty from various departments and colleges with presenters sharing the tools and strategies to increase student engagement they've incorporated into teaching since shifting to the online modality. To kick off the event, opening remarks were delivered by Ranjit Philip, Interim VP for Information Technology/CIO, and Elizabeth Adams, AVP for Undergraduate Studies.

The Engagement Conference hosted a total of 20 presentations across two tracks, with five-minute videos pre-recorded by faculty, followed by a live question-and-answer session. Faculty presentations included such topics as SIMPACT, H5P, video quizzes, Canvas Studio, active learning strategies, video discussions, and many others. The conference also included two panels. The first panel brought together faculty teaching HyFlex to share their experience with this new modality. The second was a panel of students sharing their perspectives on engagement.

We look forward to expanding on the success of this year's conference next year!
