About the Winter eLearning Institute

The Winter eLearning Institute will consist of a three day in-person institute (January 7–9), online components and support throughout the semester, and a final culminating in-person day at the end of the semester (May 22). Faculty participants will learn pedagogical strategies and best practices for online teaching as well as eLearning tools available to help students succeed in an online learning environment.  

The Winter eLearning Institute will focus on:

  • Planning Your Online Course: Learn best practices for building a new online course or redesigning a traditional face-to-face course for online delivery. 
  • Creating Content for Online Learners: Discover how to create digital content and online lectures as well as techniques to effectively organize and sequence your course content online.
  • Facilitating Learning in an Online Environment: Explore techniques and strategies for managing teaching and learning in online environments, and best practices for evaluating student work.

Those participating in the Institute will:

  • Receive additional pay funding for the equivalent of 3 units ($5,708)
  • Attend all eLearning Institute in-person meetings  (January 7–9 & May 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
  • Complete a project plan
  • Measure and share the results in an online report
  • Participate in online components throughout the semester

CSUN Faculty who are teaching fully-online courses in either Spring, Summer, or Fall 2019 are invited to apply to attend the Winter eLearning Institute. Applications are now open for the 2019 eLearning Winter program. The deadline is December 12, 2018 at 4:00 p.m.
