Introducing Academic Technology Certificate Pathways

A new opportunity for faculty to build practical teaching technology skills through a focused series of Faculty Technology Center workshops. 

Choose the pathway that best supports your teaching goals and explore strategies, tools, and practices you can put to work in your courses. 

How It Works:  

  1. Choose a Pathway: Select an area of professional learning that interests you. 

  2. Complete 4 Workshops: Attend four eligible workshops within your selected pathway. 

  3. Put Your Learning into Practice: Submit a brief exemplar demonstrating how you applied a technique, strategy, or skill from the workshops to your teaching. Self enroll into the Academic Technology Pathways Certificate Canvas course. Earn an Academic Technology Pathway Certificate 

Receive an Academic Technology Pathway Certificate recognizing your professional development and application of technology-enhanced teaching practices. Your certificate can be included in your Personnel Information File (PIF) as documentation of your professional development.

  • Start Strong: Teaching Technology Essentials: Build a strong foundation with the essential technologies and digital practices that support teaching at CSUN. A great starting point for faculty who are new to CSUN, new to teaching with technology, or looking to refresh their skills. 

  • Teaching Effectively with Canvas: Go beyond the basics of Canvas and explore ways to create organized, engaging, and student-centered learning experiences. Develop skills for managing course content, assessments, communication, grading, and other essential Canvas teaching practices.  

  • Multimedia & Interactive Teaching with Technology: Bring course content to life through video, multimedia, and interactive learning experiences. Explore technologies and strategies that can help students engage with course concepts in new and meaningful ways.  

  • Responsible AI in Teaching: Explore thoughtful, practical, and responsible approaches to artificial intelligence in teaching and learning. Build your understanding of emerging AI tools while considering effective use, transparency, academic integrity, and the evolving role of AI in higher education.  

  • Informed Teaching with Course Data: Discover how course and learning data can help you better understand student participation, progress, and learning. Explore ways to use available information to make informed teaching decisions and support student success. 

  •  Accessibility UDC: Accessible Teaching Practices: Develop practical strategies for creating more accessible and inclusive learning experiences. Explore accessibility principles and Universal Design concepts that can help you design course materials, activities, and learning environments that support all students.
