CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, NORTHRIDGE

California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is a vibrant, global community located in the heart of Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley.

Founded in 1958, CSUN is one of the largest universities in the country, delivering award-winning undergraduate and graduate educations to nearly 40,000 students annually. The university consists of nine colleges and more than 2,000 faculty members, who teach courses leading to bachelor’s degrees in 65 disciplines, master’s degrees in 74 fields, and doctorates in audiology, educational leadership and physical therapy, as well as 17 teaching credential programs.

CSUN students reflect the rich diversity of Southern California, and the university is committed to an inclusive approach to higher education. The Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education College Rankings placed CSUN third in the nation for the university’s diverse learning environment and CollegeNET ranked CSUN seventh in the nation for social mobility of students and alumni. It has been designated by the U.S. Department of Education as a Hispanic Serving Institution, with Latinx students comprising 55.2 percent of CSUN’s student population. CSUN also enrolls the nation’s largest population of students who are deaf and hard of hearing at a mainstream institution and more Armenian students than any other university in the world outside of Armenia.

CSUN counts nearly 390,000 alumni, who fuel the region’s — and the nation’s — economy. Since its founding, the university has made a significant and long-term economic impact on California, generating nearly $1.9 billion and nearly 12,000 jobs each year. The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities named CSUN an Innovation and Economic Prosperity University, and Money Magazine recently named it one of the top six “most transformative colleges” in the nation.

As a world-class university that takes pride in its overall excellence, academic rigor, commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, justice and belonging, and focus on student success, CSUN is continuously evolving to meet the needs of its students. The university has played a critical role in the intellectual, cultural and economic development of Southern California and is committed to creating a brighter, more equitable future for all.
