How-To Guide: Email Banner Templates in Adobe Express

Collage of available email banner templates

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for accessing, customizing, and exporting the new email banner templates in Adobe Express.

The goal is to make it quick and easy for you to create on-brand banners that are consistent with CSUN’s visual identity.

  1. Accept the email invitation from Adobe Express.
    • If you are unable to access Adobe Express, please submit a ticket to campus IT via TopDesk.

  1. After initial acceptance of the invitation, you will be able to locate the email banner templates in the “Your Stuff” folder, under “Projects”.

  1. Select the desired template.
  2. Click the “Use Template” button. This will create a copy of the template that you can begin editing.
    • Editing Text
      •  Double-click on the existing text and replace with desired text
        • Keep headlines concise (aim for 35–55 characters). Avoid line breaks that push text out of the safe area.
    • Replacing Images
      • Click the image on the canvas (left panel will appear)
      • Choose Replace ImageReplace with upload → select your file.
        • Use high-resolution images
    • Locked Layers
      • Some layers are intentionally locked to maintain the integrity of the template. This helps keep key design elements properly positioned, so you can focus on customizing the parts meant for editing without worrying about accidentally moving anything.

  1. Fonts/Colors: Use the preloaded brand styles. Don’t add new colors or fonts.
  2. Contrast: Ensure text is readable over images (use the provided overlays if needed).
  3. Alt text: Prepare a short description for the banner image.
  4. Logos: Do not stretch, recolor, or add effects to CSUN marks.

  1. Click on the Download button located in the top-right corner of the screen.
  2. Choose .png as the file format.
  3. Confirm size is 750x562px.
  4. Click on the “download” button and the file will be saved in the folder you’ve selected on your device. (Note: The file will also be available in the "Projects" folder under “Files.”)
  5. File size tip: Keep under ~500 KB for faster email loads. If larger, slightly reduce image quality on export (do not change dimensions).
