Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures II

Program Description

Would you prefer to complete your Spanish Graduate program ONLINE or IN-PERSON?

Staring in fall 2024, our Spanish graduate program is offered in a new hybrid modality. This means that you can choose to attend all classes and complete all the Spanish graduate program requirements online or in-person (or both, following the hyflex modality). Regardless of the way you attend the classes, you will be able to fully participate in any orientations, exams, service-learning projects, conferences, and other activities organized by the program.

Our graduate program consists of 33 units (11 courses). You have an option to focus your course work on one or more of the following fields: Peninsular literature and culture, Latin American literature and culture, linguistics and interpreting. Once you are admitted to the program, we recommend that you reach out to the graduate program Director for advisement on the course selection and program emphasis.

Program Goals and Objectives

  1. Prepare students to participate in a wide variety of careers (legal, medical, diplomatic, business, teaching, administrative, translation) that require native or near-native abilities in oral and written skills.
  2. Provide students with techniques, methods, strategies and skills to carry out independent research that supports career choices.
  3. Establish a solid foundation for lifelong learning and community service in the Hispanic communities.
