Dr. Kent Baxter
Kent Baxter was hired as an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at CSUN in 2004, received tenure in 2009, and served as Chair of the Department from 2016-2019. He became Associate Dean of the College of Humanities in 2019 and Interim Dean in 2025. His research and teaching interests include Children’s and Young Adult Literature, Age Studies, and Turn-of-the-Century American Literature and Culture. He also teaches professional writing. His publications include The Modern Age: Turn-of-the-Century American Culture and the Invention of Adolescence (The University of Alabama Press, 2008) and Critical Insights: Coming of Age (EBSCO/Salem Press, 2012). He is a proud graduate of CSUN – receiving his BA in English Honors in 1988.
