Emergency Hire Parameters

The University may hire people on an emergency basis to cover short-term leaves of absence, vacations, or a vacancy. Emergency Hires may also be utilized to handle increased workload or special projects.

  • This process should be completed at least one to two weeks prior to the requested effective date.  NOTE: An Emergency Hire appointment requires a background check which could take up to 10 days.
  • A formal recruitment requisition should be initiated online in CHRS Recruiting if the Emergency Hire position duties are anticipated to be long-term.
  • To initiate the Emergency Hire process, create a requisition in CHRS Recruiting and route it for approval or contact Talent Acquisition at talentacquisition@ csun.edu for guidance.
