Move-In and Unloading Instructions

Hello, CSUN Student Housing Resident-

We are very excited to finally welcome you to your new home!

By now, you should have received your assigned move-in date, time, and instructions. If you did not, you may log into your Student Housing Portal to find your assigned date and time. Please remember that you cannot move in until your assigned date and time. Due to COVID being a continued concern, it’s necessary that we carefully manage the flow of people into the complex.

If you missed the email with move-in instructions, you can click here to see a generic version of that communication: https://www.csun.edu/housing/communications-2021

We would like to share some VERY important information about parking and unloading on move-in days:

  • You will only be allowed into the complex with a printed unloading permit for your designated day. You can print your permit from your Student Housing Portal.
  • Once in the complex, and parked, you should go directly to the lobby of your assigned building to check in and gather all of your move in information from the staff in the lobby. While you are in the lobby checking in you should ask whoever you brought along to help to grab a large moving bin from the parking lot and begin unloading your belongings. You will only have 20 minutes to unload. Once your car is unloaded, one person from your party must move your car to the large F10 parking lot across Lassen Street (corner of Lindley and Lassen). Unfortunately, cars remaining parked for more than 20 minutes may be ticketed.
  • There are specific lots assigned for unloading for specific buildings. You must only unload in your assigned lot. Click here for the map: https://www.csun.edu/sites/default/files/Move-IN%20Map2021.png
    • PINK SQUARE – Lot F9 – Buildings 2, 3, 6, 16, and 17
Travel East down Lassen and make a right turn into the Lassen Street entrance. No left turns will be allowed into this entrance, for safety reasons.
    • BLUE CIRCLE – Lot E9 and Lindley Street Parking Spaces – Buildings 4 and 5
Travel North or South on Lindley to park in E9 or use street parking on Lindley
    • GREEN TRIANGLE – Lot G8 and Parking Structure G9 – Buildings 8, 11, and 12
Travel South down Zelzah and make a right turn into the G9 Parking Structure entrance. No left turns will be allowed into this entrance, for safety reasons. The lower level of the parking structure will be for disabled and staff parking only. Please note there are only stairs leading to the upper levels of the structure.
    • ORANGE STAR – Lots G7 and F8 (East only)– Buildings 9, 10, 13, 14, and 15
Travel South down Zelzah and make a right turn into the G7 parking lot entrance. No left turns will be allowed into this entrance, for safety reasons. Lots G7 and F8 are connected and you can use either lot.
    • BLACK DIAMOND – Lot F8 (West only) and Lindley Street Parking – Buildings 19, 20, and 21
Travel North or South on Lindley and enter the complex. If there is still space to unload adjacent to the buildings, you will be allowed to park and unload on one side of the fire lane. If there isn’t space, you will need to park in Lot F8 (West) or on Lindley in street parking.

Click here for the move-in map to find your unloading zone and see locations of move-in bins: https://www.csun.edu/sites/default/files/Move-IN%20Map2021.png

Parking for your family and friends helping you move in will be free on August 27 and 28 from 9:00 am – 7:00 pm.

Thank you for your time and for your attention to make this a very smooth move-in process for you and your fellow Matadors!

Fall 2021 Move in- August 16th, 2021

Hello, CSUN Student Housing Resident,

We are looking forward to seeing you soon on campus!  We are writing today with updated information regarding vaccinations and testing for Student Housing residents for the 2021-22 academic year, as well as sharing important information about room assignments, Move-in Day, and Fall CSUN Housing Policies.

As you are aware, effective Friday, July 30, 2021 the CSU Vaccination Policy https://calstate.policystat.com/policy/9779821/latest/ requiring that individuals on campus be vaccinated has been implemented.  Please refer to our Communications link on our website for all details regarding vaccination requirements as provided to you with our August 5 communication. https://www.csun.edu/housing/communications-2021

Vaccination Updates and Reminders:

  • Vaccination status verification and required documentation for living in Student Housing is separate and apart from the Matadors Forward campus process for all general CSUN Students.  Students living on campus must complete both processes.
  • Students moving into housing are required to complete the vaccination verification and upload appropriate documentation through the Student Housing Portal in order to be allowed to move in.
  • Religious Exemption Updatein addition to verifying your vaccination status, you are now required to provide documentation.  The CSU Chancellor’s office defines religious exemption documentation as ‘a statement that describes the applicable religious or other comparable belief that is the basis for their exemption.’  The link to upload your documentation is available under Vaccination Requirements in your Student Housing Portal, and must be completed before you are allowed to move in.
  • No student will be allowed to move in without completing the vaccination verification and provided required documentation.

COVID-19 Addendum to your 2021-2022 Student Housing License Agreement:

To be eligible to live in CSUN Student Housing you will need to sign the 2021-2022 COVID-19 Addendum. Please go into the Student Housing Portal and complete this agreement in the ‘forms’ section of your portal.  Completion of this form is required prior to arriving on campus for move-in.  Keys will not be issued without this form being submitted.

Testing:

  • Prior to move in, all students will need to be tested for COVID-19 and present a negative test result before being allowed to move in.  The test results will need to be less than seven days old and will need to be shown to the staff who are checking students in.  To find a free testing site near you go to: https://www.hhs.gov/coronavirus/community-based-testing-sites/index.html
  • If your test results are positive, please remain off-campus and report your results here. https://csun.sjc1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_a9kBRtrSomSpMi1.  You will be allowed to move in after we receive notification from the Klotz Student Health Center.
  • If you haven’t taken a COVID-19 test prior to move-in you will be required to remain off-campus until you receive negative results.

Guest Policy:

For the health and safety of our residents and staff during this continued COVID-19 pandemic, Student Housing will not be allowing any guests or visitors inside Student Housing facilities, including student living units. Students who do not comply with the requirement may be subject to disciplinary proceedings including eventual revocation of your Housing License Agreement. There will be an exception to this rule while you are moving in August 27 or 28 so you can have assistance from family or friends (further Move-In details provided below).  This guideline will be assessed as the semester unfolds and adjusted if and when allowed for within health and safety guidelines.

Room Assignments:

This year, there will be no room selection on-line. We will assign you to a room with your preferred roommate* (if you chose one) and will place you in your Living Learning Community or Themed Living Community (if you chose that option and you were approved for your chosen option) only after you have completed the vaccination verification process in you Student Housing portal.  Communication about vaccinations and the vaccination verification process were emailed to you last week.

*Roommate pairings whose vaccination status does not match will not be allowed to live together. If you and your preferred roommate have differing vaccine statuses, you will not be allowed to live together and will be assigned to different units.

Move-In:

  • All students are being assigned a move in date and time in order to avoid crowding in this COVID-19 environment.  You must adhere very strictly to your assigned move in date and time.  You will not be allowed to move in until your assigned date and time.  This is for your safety and the safety of your community.
  • Your move-in date is {date} at {time}.  You are scheduled to move into {Room}.
  • The check-in process will take place in your assigned building (please be sure to look that up before you arrive).  Please remember to bring a photo ID.
  • Parking and Unloading on Move-In Day: You be allowed to park on the surface lots in Student Housing for 15 minutes. Parking spots will be used for unloading only.  Once you arrive at Student Housing there will be large moving bins in the parking lots.  You should quickly grab a moving bin and empty your vehicle and have one person in your party move your vehicle to the large F10 parking lot across Lassen Street.  Tickets will not be issued to cars parked in the F10 lot from 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. that day. After 7:00 p.m. a CSUN parking permit will be required in F10 and all Student Housing lots.  If you need a daily permit, those can be purchased in the F10 lot, the F9 lot, and the G9 parking structure.
  • Full Move-In details can be found in our Move-In Guide https://www.csun.edu/housing/move-in-2021

Please contact us at housing@csun.edu or (818)677-2160 if you have any other questions.

Hello, Future CSUN Student Housing Resident –

We are writing today with some important information regarding vaccination requirements for Student Housing residents for the 2021-22 academic year. We also want to share information about room assignments.

Effective last Friday, July 30, 2021 the CSU policy that individuals on campus be vaccinated has been implemented.  This decision speaks to the CSU’s commitment to the health and safety for all members of its community, including those living on campus at CSUN.   Please read carefully through the following information to ensure you are compliant with the vaccination requirement.  Your compliance is required to live in CSUN Student Housing.

All CSUN Student Housing Residents will need to be fully vaccinated or partially vaccinated prior to move-in.

This means fully vaccinated students will have received their second (Pfizer and Moderna) or first (Johnson & Johnson) vaccination prior to move-in.  And partially vaccinated students will have received their first dose (Pfizer and Moderna) and have an appointment scheduled for a second dose prior to move-in.

If you are fully vaccinated with an approved vaccine, you will be required to provide verification of your vaccination status by August 5, 2021 at 12:00 noon. Please go into your Student Housing Portal to upload your documents in the vaccination verification section.  Your documents are being uploaded to a secure system with restricted access.  If you don’t have a copy of your vaccination card you can get one on-line through the CA government website at: https://myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov/

Prior to move in, students who are not vaccinated will need to request a code through student housing and perform an at home test and present results before being allowed to move in. The test results will need to be less than one week old and will need to be shown to the staff who are checking students in.

If you are unvaccinated and intending to be vaccinated please go into your Student Housing Portal to answer the questions for a person who is intending to be vaccinated by August 5, 2021 at 12:00 noon. You can search for vaccination appointments and sign up on line at:  https://myturn.ca.gov/.
