Biography
Dr. Garcia has a MS and PhD in food science. Her research interest is in fermented foods and health. Her previous research includes understanding the effect of processing in food properties and nutrients, as well as the adequacy of plant based diets for patients on hemodialysis. Her current research is looking into kombucha's health properties.
She is also involved in the creation of the Basic Needs Ambassador program along with Dr. Nelida Duran, Dr. Mirna Sawyer and Dr. Danielle Spratt. On her free time, she enjoys spending time with her dog Lavi.
