Mental and Physical Well-Being

Physical and mental health are very important aspects in our lives and should be maintained to ensure we function at our best. There can often be a conflict balancing school, work, and life, however, there are resources on campus aimed to strengthen your mental and physical well-being. Follow these resources to promote a healthy and happy lifestyle.

University Counseling Services

UCS provides mental health services to CSUN students in an effort to support student learning, well-being, and academic success. Our entire staff strives to create and maintain an atmosphere at UCS that is welcoming, safe, values diversity, and promotes growth. We have a remarkable team of psychologists, marriage and family therapists, social workers, psychiatrists, doctoral interns, postdoctoral fellows, peer education staff, and administrative staff.

Service(s) Provided: 

  • UCS provides a variety of mental health services to students, including individual counseling, urgent care/crisis intervention, groups and workshops, psychiatric consultation, case management, and referrals.
  • Individual counseling services are provided utilizing a brief, short-term treatment model. Urgent care services are available during business hours to assist students with a crisis or urgent care concern.
  • Outside of UCS business hours, students with urgent care needs can call our main line at (818) 677-2366 and select option 3 to speak to a live crisis counselor by phone.
  • UCS mental health professionals offer outreach programs for faculty, staff and student organizations on academic, mental health, interpersonal and wellness topics, as well as Let's Talk, a new program providing informal consultation to students at several campus locations outside of UCS.
  • In addition, UCS has four peer education programs that provide presentations throughout campus and develop various campus wellness weeks.

Klotz Student Health Center

The Klotz Student Health Center is dedicated to providing the highest quality healthcare in an inclusive, comfortable and compassionate environment. Services are designed to help students stay healthy and provide support for achieving academic goals. Appointments may be scheduled by phone at 818 677-3666 or online at myhealth.csun.edu.

The Klotz Student Health Center is located between the G3 parking structure and Chaparral Hall, south of the , and across from NCOD.

Appointment and Primary Care Hours
  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, & Friday: 8 am - 5 pm
  • Thursday: 9 am - 5 pm
 

Service(s) Provided: 

  • Free Basic Services include primary care for illness/injury/wellness provided by doctors, nurse practitioners, and health educators.
  • Free Specialty Services include Men’s & Women’s Health, Nutrition Counseling, Birth Control & Pregnancy Options Counseling, Sports Medicine, Wellness Coaching, X Rays & in-house Lab Services.
  • * Campus Care Advocate located at the SHC Low-Cost Services: Acupuncture, Chiropractic, Dental, Gynecology, outside Lab Services, Travel & Infectious Disease, Massage Therapy, Optometry, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, and Immunizations.
  • FamilyPACT available for eligible students

Requirements:

  • Basic services are available only to CSUN students. Some specialty services available to staff.
  • Insurance is not required, but Student ID is.

Student Recreation Center (SRC)

The Student Recreation Center is a facility for exercise and leisure activity that promotes lifelong health and wellness.

Oasis Wellness Center

 

Your Place to Relax, Revive and Succeed. The Oasis is a welcoming destination where CSUN students can find serenity and relaxation amid the rush and activity of campus life. The center offers nutrition counseling, meditation, massages, acupuncture, nap pods and workshops focused on wellness and managing stress — all intended to promote student academic success.

  • Indoor and outdoor lounge spaces are available for resting and studying.
  • NapPods, Massage & Relaxation chairs, Nutrition Counseling, Wellness Coaching, and Wellness Workshops are available by appointment or registration.

Campus Care Advocate

Campus Care Advocates are certified sexual assault counselors who are available to provide support services to students, faculty, and staff, who are survivors of sexual assault. Campus Care Advocates also assist those who have been affected by stalking, domestic violence, or dating violence by linking them to appropriate resources.

  • Crisis Intervention and Emotional Support: Confidential and sensitive consultation to cope with traumatic events and assist in the recovery process.
  • Individual and Group Counseling: Trauma-informed therapy for survivors on a short-term basis.
  • Advocacy: Intervention with other individuals, departments, and agencies on behalf of victims/survivors.
  • Accompaniments: Support during medical exams for evidence collections, and throughout all stages of university investigations and/or law enforcement or court proceedings.
  • Information and Referrals: Helping survivors to know what their rights and options are, as well as linkage to further support on and off-campus.
  • Prevention Outreach: Provide community education and campus outreach.
