Nutrition Graduate Student's Family Experience Fuels Passion for Helping Others

Shely Salemnia is in her second year of the Master of Science in Human Nutrition program in Family and Consumer Sciences. She is focusing on nutrition and healthy eating for cancer patients. She was inspired to pursue a career in this field when her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer while Shely was an undergraduate at New York University. Through her family’s journey, Salemnia said, she realized that working in nutrition and oncology would allow her to help others. Read more

CSUN's 60th Anniversary 5K Creates a Goal for Physical Fitness

Kinesiology's community exercise program, 3 WINS Fitness, is providing a free training program beginning on July 30 to help people prepare for CSUN's 60th Anniversary "Matador Fun Run 5K" on October 13. Training sessions will be run by CSUN Kinesiology students and enhanced by structured, self-paced walk/jog plans - it's 11 weeks of training to prepare for the 5K. “You need to set goals,” said CSUN kinesiology professor Steven Loy.  “It’s just human nature, we are motivated by what’s next.” Read more
