Helping Coffee Roasters Stay Healthy

When coffee is roasted, prior to packaging and sale, it exudes volatile organic compounds which can cause respiratory illness in workers over the long term. A key to keeping workplaces healthy is to communicate the risks and the remedies, and to do that, a clear understanding of the problem is necessary.  Environmental and Occupational Health Department Chair Nola Kennedy and faculty Tony Machado, and Gev Kazanchyan authored an article for a coffee industry magazine to help coffee roasters keep the workplace healthy. Music in Motion: Visuals of Sound

Roxane Berger is a lecturer in Family and Consumer Sciences Interior Design program and she is also an accomplished abstract artist whose works were on display in a gallery show in the CSUN Soraya this spring. "Music in Motion" is Berger's visual exploration of her muse: music. "Music emerges from all the sounds around us, adding color and rhythm to our lives," she said. "Music has the power to heal and enliven, transform and transport." Read more
