Financial Socialization: Yoko Mimura to Speak at 8th Annual CSUN Research Fellows Colloquium

How is our money management affected by our parents’ relationship to money?  At the 8th Annual CSUN Academic Research Fellows Colloquium on October 11, Yoko Mimura (Family & Consumer Sciences/Consumer Affairs) will present from her paper, ‘Financial socialization among Chinese American young adults: Focus on filial piety’ written as part of her role as a CSUN 2015-16 Research Fellow.  She is one of eight CSUN Academic Affairs Research Fellows who will be speaking at the event. 3 Wins Fitness Expands Across the State

3 Wins Fitness has expanded to CSUN’s sister CSU campuses in San Francisco, Stanislaus and Los Angeles, all of which have replicated the program. In 2013, the White House recognized the program through First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move!” campaign. The initiative’s recent name change to 3 Wins Fitness represents its three main beneficiaries, organizers said: students, the community and participants. Read more

Celebrating Our National Parks: RTM with the Distinguished Visiting Speakers Program

"The National Parks: America's Best Idea" is CSUN's event to celebrate the National Park Services Centennial. This town-hall style event will feature several CSUN alumni, each of whom holds a prominent position in the National Parks system.  "There is a huge need in the national parks for diversity, and CSUN is well positioned to encourage students to consider careers in the national parks," said Mechelle Best, Chair of the Department of Recreation & Tourism Management. a/o 09/30: Location Changed/to Johnson Auditorium; RSVP deadline extended.
