Under the supervision of Dr. Furtado, Ian Dobbs and Devyani Kohli presented preliminary results of an ongoing research study at the Seventeenth Annual Sigma Xi Student Research Symposium. The purpose of the study is to pilot a new method for assessing the qualitative aspects of fundamental movement skill competence in children. The proposed method (Pictorial Scale of Fundamental Movement Skills - PSFMS) will allow teachers to conduct live assessments without the need to videotape skill performances. Ian and Devyani are two undergraduate students from the Kinesiology Department assisting at the Motor Behavior Lab.
