Mariko Iwabuchi, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at the California State University, Northridge. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University - Los Angeles (2019) and a MS in Dance from California State University, Northridge (2012). She is a licensed psychologist and has a small private practice. She co-founded and co-directed a dance company called C.O.S.M.I.C. Dance Crew and has extensive training in hip-hop dance and funk styles dances, particularly locking. Past performances and choreographic works include Urban Street Jam, World of Dance, WNBA halftime show, and Los Angeles Psychological Association's Mirrors of the Mind. Her research focuses on investigating the effects of dance and performance on shy individuals and overall psychological well-being.
