Workshop Description: This workshop is for students considering graduate school (either a master's or doctoral degree) and wanting to learn more about the landscape of graduate education. We'll cover the basics: the difference between a master's and PhD and the possible job paths for each; how one pays for graduate school; what life is like for graduate students; and things to think about as a current undergraduate or master's student who might want to continue their education beyond their current degree program.
Parent-Scholar Panel

Workshop Description: Who are parent-scholars at CSUN? Panelists (doctoral students) Aymie Guerrero, Esther Ramirios, and Arthur Hernandez will explore the parent-scholar identity and how that differs from the ‘traditional’ college student. They will also highlight their personal experiences and discuss how parent-scholar stories can inform campus stakeholders’ efforts to better support this student population toward graduation. Attendees will walk away with a better understanding of how and why the parent-scholar of color identity is critical for furthering campus inclusion and equity efforts.
Requesting Letters of Recommendation & Building Relationships with Faculty

Workshop Description: The purpose of this workshop is to provide helpful tips for students’ on how to develop mentoring relationships with faculty. In addition, special attention will be given to assist students with requesting recommendation letters from faculty members for academic and career options in their future.

How to Apply to a PhD program and Resume/CV Writing Preparation for Graduate School

Workshop Description: This workshop will focus on tips and strategies for preparing to apply for PhD programs. Topics will include how to initiate communication with potential mentors, ways to select programs and schools, tips for composing personal statements, and composing a professional curriculum vitae (CV).
