CSUN COVID-19 GRANT PROGRAM FAQs
Q. Who is eligible to receive a CSUN COVID-19 Grant.
A. This grant program has been established to provide emergency financial assistance for California Dream Act Applicants who meet the criteria and who were not eligible to receive a CARES Act grant. To qualify for the grant, students must:
- Have submitted a 2019-2020 CADAA and have a completed application.
- Have established AB540 status with Admissions and Records.
- Have enrollment at CSUN during Spring 2020 semester.
- Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress standards.
Q. How do I know if I have AB540 status with CSUN?
A. You may contact Admissions and Records at firstname.lastname@example.org to confirm your status.
Q. I haven’t established AB540 status with CSUN, can I still complete that process and be considered for this grant?
A. You must contact Admissions and Records to discuss if it is still possible to establish that status. However, your status must be confirmed before the June 5 applications deadline. If your status is confirmed/updated before the June 5th deadline, we will consider you for the grant. You do not have to contact us.
Q. How do I apply for the grant?
A. The grant is by invitation only. If you meet the eligibility criteria, you will receive an email invitation to your CSUN email address. The email will provide a link to the application.
Q. How did you determine the amount of grant I was offered?
A. Eligibility was determined by your Expected Financial Contribution (EFC) as calculated by the California DREAM Act Application. The lower the EFC, the higher the award amount. Awards are final and cannot be adjusted.
Q. If I receive this grant, will it have to be paid back?
A. The CSUN COVID-19 Grant does not have to be paid back.
Q. If I receive this grant, will it affect my financial aid?
A. This grant will be coordinated with other financial aid you have received during the academic year and the final grant amount may be adjusted.
Q. I am a graduating senior. Am I eligible to apply?
A. You may apply if you are a graduating senior and meet all other eligibility criteria.
Q. Should I apply for the offered amount or apply for a higher amount?
A. You must decide whether to accept the offered amount or apply for a higher amount. You can only apply one time. Once you submit your application it cannot be changed or updated. Also note that due to the number of eligible students you may not receive the amount that you request if you apply for the higher amount.
Q. What kind of supporting documents should I submit to apply for the higher amount?
A. Supporting documentation is only required if you are requesting a higher amount and selected option 2 in the application. Please submit any document(s) that support your statement for the expenses you are applying for due to the disruption of Covid-19. Make sure to create one PDF file that includes all documents you plan to upload.
Q. What if I applied for the offered amount and now want to change my application to apply for the higher amount?
A. Once you submit your application it cannot be changed. Also you cannot submit an additional application.
Q. If I owe a balance to the university, will that be taken out of my CSUN COVID-19 Grant funds?
A. The funds will be sent directly to you via eRefund (if you are signed up) or via check. No charges will be taken out.
Q. The account that I used for eRefund is wrong. How can I correct it?
A. You must contact the University Cash Services department. Please email them at and include your name and student ID.
Q. How do I know if I am signed up for eRefund?
A. You must contact the University Cash Services department. Please email them at email@example.com and include your name and student ID.
Q. I submitted my application. How soon will I receive my funds?
A. Once you receive a confirmation that your application was reviewed, the funds will be sent to University Cash Services for processing. Please allow a 10-14 business days for your funds to be credited to your student account.
