Q. If I receive this grant, will it have to be paid back?
A. The CSUN CARES grant does not have to be paid back. 

Q. If I receive this grant, will it affect my financial aid?
A. The CSUN CARES grant will not affect your eligibility for financial aid.

Q. I am a graduating senior. Am I eligible to apply?
A. You may apply if you are a graduating senior and meet all other eligibility criteria. The CSUN CARES application is housed in the myNorthridge portal under Financial Matters in the CSUN Cares Grant Application pagelet. You will be able to complete the application If you are eligible to apply.

Q. Should I apply for the offered amount or apply for a higher amount?
A. You must decide whether to take the offered amount or apply for a higher amount. You can only apply one time. You cannot receive a decision and apply again. Also note that due to the number of eligible students you may not receive the amount that you request if you apply for the higher amount.

Q. I just submitted a request for a higher grant amount and I was wondering that if it got denied would I still be able to get the amount I qualified for?
A. You can only apply one time. You cannot receive a decision and apply again. If there are funds remaining after the deadline, you may have an opportunity to apply again in the fall term.

Q. What if I applied for the offered amount and now want to change my application to apply for the higher amount?
A. Once you submit your application it cannot be changed. Also, you cannot submit an additional application. If there are funds remaining after the deadline, you may have an opportunity to apply again in the fall term.

Q. What kind of supporting documents should I submit to apply for the higher amount?
A. Please submit any documents that support your statement for the expenses you are applying for due to the disruption of Covid-19. Also note that due to the number of eligible students you may not receive the amount that you request.

Q. If I owe a balance to the university, will that be taken out of my CSUN CARES funds?
A. The funds will be sent directly to you. No charges will be taken out.

Q. How do I know if I am eligible to apply for the CSUN CARES for Students grant?
A. Eligible students were sent a communication to their CSUN email address with instructions on how to apply. If you can open the application, you are eligible to apply. The CSUN CARES application is housed in the myNorthridge portal under Financial Matters in the CSUN Cares Grant Application pagelet.

Q. I have a question about the CARES Act CSUN Grant. I’m currently receiving aid from EDD for unemployment.
Q. I was wondering if I should apply for the CARES Grant because I don't know if it will affect my VA benefits in future semesters
A. That is not a question we are qualified to answer. You may wish to ask the applicable agency.Just a note that the grant does not have to be paid back and the grant will not affect your eligibility for financial aid.

Q. The account that I used for eRefund is wrong. How can I correct it?
Q. How do I know if I am signed up for eRefund?
A. You must contact the University Cash Services department and ask your question. Please email them at ucs@csun.edu and include your name and student ID.

Q. The academic major information is incorrect on the application. How do I change it?
A. Your major does not affect your grant eligibility. You can check with Admissions and Records to confirm your major.
