I have worked in the fields of community development and public health since 1995. Trained in cultural anthropology and urban studies, I have conducted research in the areas of community development, environment and behavior, substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, and interorganizational networks. I have over 15 years’ experience conducting research on substance use and substance use disorder treatment outcomes. I have coordinated and directed federally funded studies at LSU School of Public Health, UCLA Integrated Substance Abuse Programs, and University of Southern California. The driving force behind my research is to increase access to care for SUDs. I am currently working on an NIH-funded study to apply social network analysis and computer simulation modeling to describe the ecology of the SUD treatment system and explore the role of service provider networks on access to care for people with opioid use disorders.
