I have been teaching English at CSUN since 2000 and I love it! I have also taught at community colleges and other universities, but in the classroom or online, interacting with my CSUN students in the interests of equipping them with useful skills is my "happy place." Although I've taught Literature and Composition, teaching Business Communications (205) and Business Report Writing (306) has become a firm favorite. My students come in knowing that they will need to be able to write in a clear, concise, ethical, and professional manner whether they are Public Health Admin majors, Construction Management, or are majoring in some aspect of Business. I am on the board of a small business that works putting together artists and manufacturers, so I have experience with writing and editing licensing, marketing, and branding materials as well as crafting memos, business emails, and reports. I am also on the board of a non-profit that supports adults with developmental disabilities so that they can have a safe, healthy, happy life. Good communication skills are needed for that role as well.

Personal: When I'm not in the classroom (actual or virtual), I practice yoga and meditation, walk on the beach at low tide, and hang out with friends and family eating good food, listening to music, talking, and laughing! I love to read fiction, novels and short stories. I immigrated to the US from South Africa and I am deeply interested in issues around social justice, fairness, and equity.
