The 2022 CSUN Faculty Retreat, Installations: Journeys of Connection, will be held on Monday, January 10, 2022 at the new Orchard Conference Center on our beautiful campus.
We are very pleased to announce that this year’s Faculty Retreat will be held on January 10, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the new Orchard Conference Center on campus. The retreat this year will focus on our return to the CSUN campus after the long journeys we have each taken during the pandemic. We want the retreat to celebrate coming home, while also acknowledging the losses and challenges that many have faced, the strengths that we have drawn upon to cope, the use of our creativity, and the important lessons we have learned about our connections to ourselves and others. Most importantly, we hope this retreat will remind us of our connections to CSUN—both the place and our peers—offering us a space to reflect and revitalize ourselves by reconnecting, sharing long overdue visits, trying something new, experiencing some fun together, and creating new memories.
We’re bringing back the popular Lightning Talk sessions in which faculty are invited to present their work connecting to the theme in a “3 Slides in 3 Minutes” format. We welcome proposals that share stories of the mosaic of the pandemic—life experiences of love, joy, loss, lessons learned, survival, and hope. We also encourage proposals that reflect academic projects and research at any stage of development— how Covid-19 as a backdrop has led us to reconsider our focus, to change how we do our work, or has inspired us to be engaged in new or different ways.
