2017 Southwest Seminar in Continental Philosophy

The CSUN Department of Philosophy, with the support of the Queer Studies program, is pleased to host the 2017 Southwest Seminar in Continental Philosophy. The event will offer presentations from nearly 50 philosophers from the southwestern region and beyond. 

The event will also feature keynote addresses from Dr. Talia Mae Bettcher (Cal State LA) ("The Phenomenology of Em-personation: What Transphobia Shows about Transition”) and Dr. Lisa Guenther (Vanderbilt University) (“Unmaking and Remaking the World in Long-Term Solitary Confinement”).  Read more

VIII CSUN Philosophy Student Conference

A one-day student conference open to the whole CSUN community. There is no need to be a Philosophy major or minor to submit a proposal or to participate in the conference. The program will be organized around the presentation of about six student papers (which will be selected by a philosophy faculty committee in a blind-review process). Read more
