Tackling the Tough Courses Together.

Every Engineering and Computer Science student knows there are certain courses that can stop your momentum. Facilitated Opportunities for Coursework Utilization Strategies (FOCUS) GRIT FOCUS Sessions were built specifically with those courses in mind.

The GRIT identifies the courses most likely to slow your progress toward graduation and assigns a dedicated GRIT Instructional Student Assistant (ISA), a tutor who knows that course inside and out and will support you through it.

What to Expect

Your GRIT ISA isn't just there to help you pass a test. They're there to help you truly understand the material and build the confidence to keep going. Through FOCUS, you'll have access to:

  • On-Campus Group Tutoring Sessions | Collaborative, regular sessions where you can work through course concepts alongside peers who are in it with you
  • Midterm & Final Exam Reviews | Focused prep sessions designed to help you walk into high-stakes exams feeling ready, not rattled

Course-Aligned Support You Can Trust

What makes FOCUS different is the connection between your ISA and your faculty member. Your ISA works directly with the course instructor, staying aligned with what's being taught, how it's being assessed, and what you need to know to succeed. This isn't generic tutoring, it's support that's specifically tailored to your course, your professor, and your curriculum.

Why It Matters

Progress toward graduation shouldn't stall because of one hard course. FOCUS Sessions exist to make sure it doesn't. Whether you're hitting the material for the first time or need a second pass to make it click. Show up, engage, and let your ISA help you push through.
