Courses/Weekly Themes

Our 2023 weekly themes have not yet been posted.

Our summer academic enrichment program is implemented through four different courses each day: Arts & Crafts, Language Arts, Science, and Music & Theater Arts. The courses are designed by a team of credentialed teachers addressing a different weekly theme.

The weekly themes for 2022 are: “Once Upon a Story,” “It’s a Bug’s Life,” “America the Beautiful – Road Trip Across America,” “Inventions and Engineering,” and “International Travel.”

Once Upon a Story

Fairy Tales, Myths, and Legends! Fantasy and medieval characters and a castle upon the pages of a book

We will explore fairy tales, myths, and legends through reading and writing. We may even encounter a dragon or two!

America the Beautiful – Road Trip Across America

National Parks, State Monuments, and Landmarks! A family in a car on a road trip

See the USA without leaving the CSUN campus! Wander through our national parks; see our famous monuments and landmarks. Travel from coast-to-coast learning about different regions, states, and (everyone's favorite!) amusement parks.

It’s a Bug’s Life

“Creepy Crawlers,” bug safety, and the life cycle of a bug!

Look at the world through the eyes of an entomologist! Learn what it is like to be a bug: where bugs live, what they do, how they eat. Discover crawlers, fliers, stingers, and biters, and how they affect our earth.

Inventions and Engineering

Robotics and inventions, past and present!

Who are inventors and engineers? How do they solve problems to make our lives easier? Learn about past inventions and the people who created them. Then return to the present and discuss possible inventions to solve current problems.

International Travel

Countries, customs, and geography!

Explore the exciting adventures of international travel. Learn about languages, national flags, holidays, foreign currency, and passports.  Plan a trip to an exciting destination!
