The Summer Academic Enrichment Program (SAEP) has been serving middle and high school students that live in the area that surrounds California State University, Northridge since 1979. Our goal is quite simple: we want the children who pass through our program to be better people--academically and personally--for having come our way. We believe that children, because of their organic nature, are grown, and we want to provide the optimal place for good growth to happen. Our intentional plan is to address what we call the three H’s: Head, Heart, Hope.
First, we will instruct the head of your student by providing high quality content in invigorating, innovative ways. Besides using proven, effective teaching strategies, we encourage our teachers to creatively enrich the teaching and learning in the classes to grow your student's mind in thinking, reasoning and understanding.
Second, we deliberately look for ways to inspire the heart of your student. We believe in cultivating good character growth in our courses whereby young people embrace, value and develop honesty, integrity, perseverance, and compassion--both in and outside the classroom. We believe that inspiring good character is a crucial component in growing the minds and hearts of our students.
The third area we focus on is hope. By having the courses taught on the CSUN campus by an excellent, diverse faculty, we send a clear message of the college possibilities that await each SAEP student. When you add that we have highly qualified teaching assistants who currently attend community colleges, local four-year institutions, highly competitive private universities like Princeton and Harvard, and some who have their Master's degrees, your student is influenced and inspired in ways that fan the flame of hope through real-life examples.
Thank you for taking the time to examine our program. We look forward to having your child join us on a journey that will strengthen his/her head, heart, and hope.
