Educational Therapy Post-Masters Certificate

The Educational Therapy Certificate Program is designed for post-Masters students who wish to combine educational and therapeutic approaches for evaluation, remediation, case management, and communication/advocacy on behalf of children, adolescents and adults with learning disabilities or learning problems. The certificate program aligns with the Association of Educational Therapists (AET) course requirements for the associate level of membership. www.aetonline.org In addition, 150 of AET’s required supervisory hours are met by the required internship course. It is anticipated that the ET certificate program will provide exemplary preparation for Educational Therapists to serve students with special needs in clinical and other settings, helping them reach their full potential.

Course Requirements (15 Units)

  • SPED 673 Principles of Educational Therapy (3)

  • SPED 671 Advanced Study of Literacy Problems (3)

  • SPED 672 Advanced Assessment in Educational Therapy (3)

  • SPED 676 Clinical Case Management (3)

  • SPED 679 Internship in Educational Therapy (3)

Prerequisites for Admission to the Post-Masters Certificate Program

  • Completion of a Master of Arts Degree program in Education or other related fields as approved by the ET Coordinator

  • Minimum of two years of experience in the field of Education

  • Education Specialist Credential or prerequisites determined by the ET Coordinator (e.g., SPED 400, SPED 406, SPED 501MM, SPED 503MM or equivalencies)

  • Prerequisites for the Specialization (SPED 501MM, 502MM, & 503MM)

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA in MA degree program
