Dear COE Community,
Today is May 1st, also known as May Day in many countries. May Day began as a rite of passage from winter to spring, and a time for celebration. In keeping with the recognition of beauty around us, this is a great time to view California’s super blooms of poppies and other wildflowers and enjoy self-care by connecting with nature.
May is also a month to recognize important movements and groups that call for greater awareness. These include Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Mental Health Awareness Month, Jewish American Heritage Month, and National Clean Air Month.
So enjoy this glorious month of May, but also hold close to your heart the importance of these other May holidays, and why these are especially meaningful this month.
For a list of other self-care options, please see our COE self-care website for resources for faculty, staff, students, and the community at:

May you have a beautiful May Day today!
Warmly,
Shari
