Self-Care for U at Northridge

At California State University, Northridge, the Michael D. Eisner College of Education faculty and staff believe that self-care, which means taking responsibility for oneself to maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle at work and in one’s personal world, is essential for reducing stress and increasing physical and emotional health. Over the last four years, more than 60% of the faculty and staff have engaged in the program conveniently located in their building and have reported an increase in their sense of calm and overall well-being. Faculty share self-care knowledge and skills with candidates in the teaching and counseling programs to encourage wellness and retention as candidates enter their school-based profession. Faculty also encourage candidates to pay forward the importance of self-care to students and families.
