COE Self-Care Activities Spring 2020 - Week 1

January 21, 2020

Dear Faculty and Staff,

Welcome back to spring semester and our COE staff and faculty self-care activities!  Today is the fourth annual National Day of Racial Healing (NDORH). Tune into the livestream to watch the event in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. The NDORH work is part of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation’s Truth, Racial Healing, & Transformation (TRHT) effort. The NDORH website provides educators with a set of resources to assist in this work. Information may be found at https://dayofracialhealing.org/

We begin our spring COE self-care activities from 1:30-2PM next Thursday, January 30th, in the CTL conference room with our wonderful meditation leader Josh Einhorn. Please note that this is the new time for weekly meditation this semester.

And be sure to mark your schedules for our first monthly presentation on Music for Healing the Body, Mind and Emotion with presenter and musician Brian Lottman on Tuesday, Feb. 4th, from 12-1 PM in Ed 1214. Brian plays the harmonium, an instrument known for reducing stress and rejuvenating the whole body. Come and listen to this soothing music. Lunch will be included.

Finally, we also are excited to announce that our COE self-care program will be a featured presentation at the Health, Wellness and Social Justice Conference on Saturday, Feb 15, 2020 at Mount Saint Mary’s University. Our program also will be featured at the AERA 2020 conference Stress, Coping and Resilience SIG. More information to come about this.
