To our continuing students, from Dean Shari Tarver Behring

May 20, 2020

Dear Students,

CSUN’s 2019-2020 academic year started last August like it has for many years; students, faculty and staff, pouring into our halls of knowledge, eager to continue the course of higher learning for the betterment of all. Then the COVID-19 crisis struck, changing the very way in which we live our lives. The sacrifices have and continue to be immense. The challenges are affecting every one of us in profound and deep ways. Through this historic, unprecedented time, you, the students of the Michael D. Eisner College of Education, awe and inspire me. You are persevering in the attainment of your educational goals with commitment, hard work and resilience through this difficult and ambiguous time. Thank you for making your College proud.

I want all of you to know that the Michael D. Eisner College of Education cares about you and encourages you to take advantage of the many resources available to assist and nurture you.

The CSUN Cares for Students Grant is made possible through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which provides financial support to eligible students who have expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to COVID-19. As you know, our campus and College of Education classes will remain virtual in the Fall semester, with a few exceptions. You are not alone, from your professors to advisors, from staff to chairs, including Associate Dean Chris Hayashi and myself. We are all here for you and we are committed to supporting you as you continue your educational journey with us with the same high standards our college is known for. Please reach out to any of us if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you in the fall!

Most Sincerely,

Shari Tarver-Behring, Ph.D.
