February 11, 2020

Apartheid to Today exhibit, with an academic poster and items from South Africa

Dr. Lissa Stapleton (Faculty, Department of Deaf Studies) along with students in Deaf Studies jointly presented this incredible exhibit at two national professional conferences in November of 2019: 1) The Association for the Study of Higher Education in Portland, Oregon and 2) The Council on International Education and Exchange in New York City. The exhibit was also displayed on the second floor of Manzanita Hall on the CSUN campus from October 1-November 18,2019. The exhibit, entitled From Apartheid to Today: Black Deaf Activism, Culture & Education, is a PhotoVoice Art Exhibit and highlights the community-focused work the students participated in while in South Africa exploring and learning more about equity, justice, resistance and activism.
