Credential Office Student Teaching Application

Application Instructions

Along with your Student Teaching Application, please submit verification of all prerequisites or program conditions that are not already on file in the Credential Office. All conditional coursework in progress during the semester of application will be verified for completion by the Credential Office. Notification of the application status will be sent to your CSUN email address.

If all exams and/or prerequisite courses are already passed, you will be declared eligible for student teaching. If exams and/or prerequisite courses are in progress during the semester of application you will be found eligible when courses are successfully competed and exams are passed.

Admission Letter
If you have not been admitted to a credential program, the Student Teaching application will not be processed. For Credential Program application and admission requirements, visit the Credential Office

Single Subject Credential Program:

In addition to the student teaching application prepare and submit an autobiography to sed.office@csun.edu using the guidelines found here.

Education Specialist Credential Program:

There are two special education student teaching options available. Please make sure you complete the appropriate forms for the on-the-job or student teaching option. Forms must be submitted to the Special Education Department.

  • The traditional student teaching option is for students requesting placement in a special education classroom under the supervision of a credentialed special education teacher.
  • The on-the-job or student teaching intern option is for special education teachers and others who request student teaching in their assigned classroom. All applicants must have taught in the assigned classroom for at least one semester prior to beginning student teaching.

Student Teaching Options (MS Traditional)
This is the only application you will need to submit for EED 560C and EED 561F as long as you don’t break the sequence.
Student Teaching Options (MS ITEP)
This is the only application you will need to submit for EED 578A and EED 578D as long as you don’t break the sequence.
Student Teaching Options (MS Intern)
EED 551C/EED 559F is the only student teaching option for the Multiple Subject Intern program.
Student Teaching Options (SS Trad./FYI/JYI)
This is the only application you will need to submit for SED 554 and SED 555 as long as you don’t break the sequence.
Student Teaching Options (SS Intern)
This is the only application you will need to submit for SED 554 and SED 555 as long as you don’t break the sequence.
Student Teaching Options (ECSE Fall/Spring)
Student Teaching Options (ECSE Summer)
SPED 578 (ECSE) is the only student teaching offer during the summer. Request for the summer needs to be submitted by January 15th.
Are you completing the Bilingual Authorization concurrently with your credential program?
If pursuing the Bilingual Added Authorization concurrently with a credential program, the CSET LOTE exam must be met at the time of submitting student teaching application.

I acknowledge that this application is only for the semesters and assignments listed above. Any request for other semesters or assignments must be submitted by me prior to the deadline for that semester. Failure to submit such a request in a timely manner may result in not receiving an assignment. I understand that I must keep both the Academic Department and the Credential Office informed of any changes in my plans. I will also need to register for the corequisite courses concurrently with the assignment being requested if I am not able to complete them before. Notification of application status will be sent via email to my CSUN email address.
