Congratulations to Sami Toews and Fatmana Deniz with Amy Hanreddy for winning an OSEP grant for Project REACH IT. Project REACH IT has four goals: 1) recruit, retain, and increase the percentage of multilingual, racially and ethnically diverse teachers to address the shortage of special educators prepared to serve students with high intensity needs; 2) prepare scholars to develop leadership skills to promote access and serve students with high-intensity needs within inclusive settings; 3) prepare skilled teachers to implement individualized, evidence-based, and culturally sustaining practices to support diverse students with high-intensity needs and their families; and 4) prepare scholars who are self-determined reflective teachers through practice, feedback, and reflection and who foster self-determination skills in students with high-intensity needs. CSUN's Michael D. Eisner College of Education allowed me to work full-time for LAUSD, raise a family and take evening classes towards my credential. The professors and staff at the CSUN College of Education were very helpful and encouraged me to forge forward and not be discouraged by setbacks. Read more

Lee Ann Tang is a new faculty member in the Department of Deaf Studies. Growing up in New Jersey with a large signing family, Lee Ann Tang was adopted from China to the United States at age five. She identifies herself as an Asian-American, Chinese adoptee, and Deaf woman. Read more

We pleased to share that the Transdisciplinary Bridge Project has been chosen to receive funding from the Office of Special Education Programs, totaling 1.25 million dollars over the next five years. This funding will help our Early Childhood Special Education Program establish groundbreaking collaboration across Masters degree programs at CSUN.  Read more
