The award recognizes educators for their expertise, success, creativity and devotion to their students and the teaching profession. CSUN’s Michael D. Our hearts go out to all who have been impacted following the sad and tragic shooting at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita last week. Now is the time for gratitude for the safety and well-being of ourselves and our loved ones. I am very grateful to our COE students and faculty who have been on the frontlines, responding with support during this crisis, and especially to those at Strength United. Deaf Studies Trip to Cape Town, South Africa

The Deaf Studies department went to Cape Town, South Africa June 17-July 3. We spent two weeks learning South African Sign Language, visiting Deaf schools and businesses, exploring museums such as the Nelson Mandala Museum and the Slave Lodge as well as spending time with locals in Langa, a local township, and EDeaf, a Deaf vocational school.
