Risk Management

Description:

During this week-long webinar series, various risk management-related topics will be presented at each session, followed by short discussion and Q&A.  The goal is to create a forum for non-risk managers to learn about the importance of local, state, and federal regulations; common risks on college and university campuses; and what non-risk managers can do to advance effective risk practices on their campuses.  Everyone is welcome to participate.

This live webinar presented by Jim Spencer, of University of Notre Dame will focus on 3D Printers. 3D printing is a rapidly emerging technology with the potential to change many aspects of our daily lives. There is a lot of news and hype around the technology, and while most people have heard of 3D printing, many do not understand what it is or how it works. What is fact and what is exaggeration? Is this technology the future? What is its place in our changing world? It's our responsibility to be familiar with technologies like 3D printing and to have informed answers to those questions.

We'll start by taking a walk through the history of 3D printing, how it's evolved over time, and speculate where it may be headed in the future. The nuts and bolts of how the technology works, and the different technologies that are available will also be a major part of the presentation. We’ll also discuss some of the safety and environmental considerations that institutions should bear in mind when approaching and implementing the technology.
