In addition, the Professional Development Program oversees our New Employee Welcome Orientation Program.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT -
We have a commitment to you as a manager/supervisor to ensure that you have the resources to effectively manage and to help develop your teams. As part of that commitment, we have developed the Matador Management & Leadership Program.
Leadership, regardless of the setting, can often be intangible. But successful leaders share common traits. At CSUN, with our unyielding commitment to student success, we've identified leadership principles we believe are absolutely essential. Every CSUN leader should strive to model these attributes day in, day out. Living these principles creates the environment where employees and students achieve their goals and ultimately success.

In addition, each year Professional Development offers a series of seminars and workshops designed specifically for those in supervisory and managerial positions. While some sessions focus on training or improving processes surrounding internal business, the majority of sessions focus on developing the individual to become a manager, inspiring staff, and engaging in the promotion of the University.
STAFF SERVICE AWARDS & RECOGNITION OF EXCELLENCE AWARDS -
On April 22, 2019, Human Resources hosted will host the 52nd annual Staff Service and Recognition of Excellence Awards Event. The Staff Service Awards are an opportunity for the University to recognize staff on their service. Each year we recognize staff who are marking completion of service in five year increments. At the 2019 Event, we anticipate honoring approximately 310 staff and administrators who collectively have provided approximately 4,400 years of service to the University! The Recognition of Excellence Awards honor individuals and teams who embody the mission and values of CSUN in their outstanding performance of their duties, and beyond. These awards include the Presidential Award, Jolene Koester Team Award, Merit Award, Alumni Award, the Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion Award, and the Student Assistant of the Year Award. All faculty and staff are encouraged to nominate a deserving colleague or team.
