The Faculty Writing Boot Camp will help you make fast and significant progress with your summer writing projects. Participants attend daily writing sessions in a quiet room, working alongside other writers. Boot camp helps by creating structure and accountability in your writing routine, and provides the camaraderie that can even make your writing fun!

Annual Alumni Night at the Hollywood Bowl | June 16

Join us for CSUN's annual Hollywood Bowl Night on June 16, which is Opening Night for the Bowl, featuring the legendary Diana Ross, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and fireworks! Come early with your picnic dinner and join other Matadors for a pre-concert picnic in our reserved Camrose picnic area.  You do not need to be a CSUN Alum or member of the Alumni Association to take part in this Matador community event!

Associated Student's Summer Movie Fest Is Back!

Associated Students is hosting free outdoor movie screenings on the Oviatt Library lawn every Thursday evening  this summer.  Each week contains movies, food trucks and other activities. From comedy, action, drama  and horror there is a film for everyone.  Bring chairs and blankets and spend time with the family on campus. Gathering every Thursday night, food trucks arrive at 5:30 pm and  films begin at dusk.

Back To The Future  - June 7th
Marty McFly, 17-year-old high school student, is accidentally sent thirty years into the past in a time-traveling DeLorean invented by his close friend, the maverick scientist Doc Brown.
The Incredibles - June 14th
A family of undercover super heroes hiding in the suburbs are forced out of retirement when their old comrades begin disappearing.

 Aspiring musician Miguel, confronted with his family's ancestral ban on music, enters the Land of the Dead to find his great-great-grandfather.

Wonder Woman - July 5th 
When a pilot crashes and tells of conflict in the outside world, Diana, an Amazonian warrior in training, leaves home to fight a war, discovering her full powers and true destiny.
Black Panther - July 12th 
T'Challa, the King of Wakanda, rises to the throne in the isolated, technologically advanced African nation, but his claim is challenged by a vengeful outsider who was a childhood victim of T'Challa's father's mistake.

 

 

Monsters, Inc. - July 19th

In order to power the city, monsters have to scare children so that they scream. However, the children are toxic to the monsters, and after a child gets through, 2 monsters realize things may not be what they think.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi - July 26th

Rey develops her newly discovered abilities with the guidance of Luke Skywalker, who is unsettled by the strength of her powers. Meanwhile, the Resistance prepares for battle with the First Order.

Hairspray- August 2nd 

Pleasantly plump teenager Tracy Turnblad teaches 1962 Baltimore a thing or two about integration after landing a spot on a local TV dance show.

Dirty Dancing - August 9th 

Spending the summer at a Catskills resort with her family, Frances "Baby" Houseman falls in love with the camp's dance instructor, Johnny Castle 

Jumanji : Welcome to the Jungle - August 16th

Four teenagers are sucked into a magical video game, and the only way they can escape is to work together to finish the game.

Get Out - August 23rd 

A young African-American visits his white girlfriend's parents for the weekend, where his simmering uneasiness about their reception of him eventually reaches a boiling point.

Commit To Be Fit - Summer!

WHO: Commit to Be Fit (CTBF) is a free fitness program for CSUN staff/faculty/students and community members. The program is led by CSUN Kinesiology students under the supervision of CSUN Kinesiology faculty.

The workouts consist of cutting edge and scientifically sound functional cardiovascular and resistance training aimed to get you in shape and help you FEEL YOUR BEST! CTBF is designed for all fitness levels and will expand your limits of strength, endurance, flexibility, balance, and cardiovascular health. Learn how to do activities in new ways—move more quickly, think faster, do what you never thought possible! Improved fitness improves your quality of life and makes your world bigger.

SRC Summer Updates: Children's Swim Lessons, YogaFit & CPR Certification Opportunites, & More!

The SRC has several exciting programs available to the campus community this Summer.

Children's Summer Swim Lessons

It’s never too early for your child to become a better swimmer and build confidence in the water! These specially-designed lessons are available to the children, grandchildren and dependents of SRC members during the summer. Classes for all ability levels are offered every Saturday, and all lessons are taught utilizing the American Red Cross guidelines and teaching techniques.

  • Conveniently located at the SRC Rec Pool
  • Five lessons — 25 minutes, once a week on Saturday for five weeks
  • Only $23 per child for SRC members
  • Register at the SRC front desk or online (Registration opens on Monday, April 30 and closes on the first day of class session)

Any non-member who wants to sit on the deck and watch must purchase spectator passes at the front desk for $1.

Please be advised that parents will be required to bring the following items on the first day of lessons:

  • Swim lesson card from prior SRC swim lesson (if applicable)
  • Child’s birth certificate to be presented at the front desk. (This is mandatory unless you have previously presented these documents at the SRC and a profile has already been made for your child.)

Please arrive at least 15 to 30 minutes prior to the lesson in order to give sufficient time for sign-ins.

Summer 2018 Children’s Swim Lessons will be held on Saturdays each week for five weeks. You can choose one of three sessions that will work best for you and your little swimmer.

Session 1: Saturday, June 2 – Saturday, June 30
Session 2: Saturday, July 7 – Saturday, Aug. 4
Session 3: Saturday, Aug. 11 – Saturday, Sept. 8

Swim Lesson Times:

9:30 – 9:55 a.m. – Tiny Tots, Level 1, 2 and 3
10 – 10:25 a.m. – Parent & Me*, Level 1, 2, and 3
10:45 – 11:10 a.m. – Tiny Tots, Level 1, 2 and 4
11:15 – 11:40 a.m. – Parent & Me*, Tony Tots, Level 4 and 5

*Parents & Me requires at least one parent per child to be in the water. Non-members who want to get in the water must purchase a guest pass for $10.
Parents can request a FREE swim diaper from any lifeguard. Swim diapers are required for the following levels:
Parent & Me; Tiny Tots; Level 1 ; Level 2 (optional)
