The CSUN AppJam is a competition designed for students from different disciplines to compete in teams to create a functioning mobile app. Students had the opportunity to participate in one of two categories: student life or student finances.
The contest generated 24 teams, including student talent ranging from design to user experience and programming. On April 30th the contest concluded with a showcase of all of the applications and an awards reception. The grand prize for the Student Life category was awarded to Kyra Key, Rebecca Koller, and Araik Yegiazaryan for their innovative application, MATADOR PATROL.
Kyra, a graduating senior, who will be receiving her degree in Graphic Design this Spring, was part of the 2010 EOP FreshStart experience.
As demonstrated and described on their YouTube video: “MATADOR PATROL connects you to safety escorts at the tap of a button. Utilizing your phone's GPS connection, the closest patroller will receive an alert with your request and will quickly be on their way to you. MATADOR PATROL was created with student safety as it's main priority.”
Congratulations to the team for their hard work and ingenuity.
