An occurrence of a sexual violence is very traumatic. Coping with this trauma can be very difficult to manage and result in the individual utilizing unhealthy coping mechanisms. For some, food is seen as a source of comfort but can lead further concerns if abused.

Join Allison Begley, Psy.D., University Counseling Services Staff Psychologist and Kevin Lau, M.A., University Counseling Services and JADE Peer Education Program Doctoral Intern as they provide a presentation covering how some sexual violence survivors may resort to eating disorder as a coping mechanism. They will also discuss how to help survivors find healthy coping mechanisms.  RSVP for this presentation by registering with the link listed above.
