What To Do Next

As Commencement rapidly approaches, we wanted to make sure you all aware of what to expect over the next couple of months. See below for the upcoming announcements and deadlines. If you have any questions, email us at commencement@csun.edu

February

ANNOUNCEMENT - CSUN Virtual Commencements 
The time is here!!!  Around mid-month an official announcement about the upcoming Virtual Commencement Ceremonies will be sent. 

March

STUDENT DEADLINE - Apply for Graduation
For our 2020-2021 students - be sure you have formally applied to graduate no later than Friday, March 5, 2021.

  • All bachelor’s degree students must formally apply through the Office of Undergraduate Degree Services in Admissions and Records. Helpful: Apply to Graduate, Bachelor’s.

CAMPUS ANNOUNCEMENT - Graduating with Honors / Distinction
If you have met the criteria to graduate with honors (undergrad) or distinction (masters) Expect a letter from our Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mary Beth Walker congratulating your achievement.   

ANNOUNCEMENT - RSVP/Confirmation 
Be ready to check inboxes and mailboxes for the Virtual Commencements RSVP.  The simple RSVP process will confirm your attendance in attending virtual ceremonies and will give you more information about GradFest and GradBoxes.

EVENT - GradFest!
Expect this year's virtual GradFest experience to be smooth and enjoyable occurring Wednesday, March 10, 2021 & Thursday March 11, 2021. This is the time where you can rent your cap & gown, purchase graduation announcements & other grad-related items, learn about cultural graduation celebrations and much more.  See the "GradFest" link on the main Commencement Webpage as the date approaches, and keep your eyes out for email announcements. 

ANNOUNCEMENT - Student Speakers at College Ceremony
If you want to speak at your College Ceremony keep an eye out for this announcement! 

DEADLINE - Apply for Outstanding Graduating Student Award
Each year four graduating seniors are presented with the Outstanding Graduating Senior Award and awarded a $2000 scholarship recognition of academic excellence, contributions to campus and community, and exceptional achievements or personal life circumstances that have been overcome. Visit the Outstanding Graduating Student Award website to learn more about the criteria and apply today! The deadline to apply is Friday, March 26, 2021.

AprilCAMPUS ANNOUNCEMENT - Register to participate!
All grads from 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 will receive information on how to register to participate in the upcoming celebrations including the Virtual Ceremonies and the Grad Parades.  The registration system will also allow you to navigate the creation of your personalized slide/tile too

CAMPUS ANNOUNCEMENT - Personalized Slides/Tiles
It's time to create your personalized graduating slide/tile.  Each student will receive information on how to build your slide/tile which will be used during your College Ceremony as your name is announced.  You will have from MondayApril 5th -  Friday, May 7th to create and finalize your slide/tile.  

CAMPUS ANNOUNCEMENT - Ceremony Reminders
To make sure you and your family/friends know how to navigate the upcoming ceremonies online, look for emails explaining how to best enjoy your experience.

EVENT - All University Commencement Ceremony
Let's get ready to celebrate on Saturday, May 15th at 5:00pm!  This ceremony will ring in the commencement season with our University Cabinet, Keynote Speaker and the conferral of your degree by the University President.

EVENT - College Ceremonies
You are up at front at this event - Congratulations! Your College will celebrate you and your achievements with motivating speeches by your College Dean, Student Speakers, and the official Name Calling of you and your peers! 
These ceremonies will occur between Friday, May 21st - Monday May 24th.  For the official schedule, visit the main commencement website page.

EVENT - Grad Parades
As a vehicle based parade, graduates will drive or be driven through inner campus walkways and streets to experience the University like never before. The Parades will start on Tuesday, May 25th and go through till Thursday, May 28th.
