Wednesday, March 15, 2023 - 11:20 AM PST
Automation in cars is a technology which is developing fast. There are five levels of automation according to the SAE. In my presentation I will be discussing the level 3 of automation and what should be done to make it more accessible in the domain of accessible user interfaces.
A lot of automobile companies like Tesla,Cadillac, Mercedes benz, Honda have achieved the level 3 of automation. Level 3 of automation can include features like automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and traffic sign recognition (www.carbuzz.com) . Accessibility in the user interfaces is important for the people with some kind of disability. Completely self driven cars can provide better mobility options for people with disabilities. 61 million adults in USA have some kind of disability (
www.cdc.gov). I hold a Masters degree in MSc universal design of information and communication technology from Oslo metropolitan university, Oslo, Norway. In my presentation I will share the results of my thesis combined with the current state of research on the topic . In my presentation I will use slides, videos and images to help the attendees understand and get a clear view of the topic.
