Description
Organizations are moving fast to make their websites and content accessible due to litigation, complying with legislation, and to best serve their clients. This means that efforts to make websites accessible are well underway at many leading organizations, but what about the content? More often than not, the documents hosted on these websites are overlooked. Efforts to make the documents on those websites accessible are not progressing well due to a lack of tools that analyze and report on each document’s accessibility compliance. Although some tools support PDF accessibility, they are difficult to use, costly, or don’t provide a complete workflow to find the content, evaluate it, fix it when needed, and maintain compliance. Having a tool that can scan a website, find all content, evaluate it for compliance and provide rich analysis and accessibility reporting for all major document types, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ePub, not just PDFs, can make managing the accessibility of the website an easy task. This session will discuss how important it is to consider an entire website, including content, when making websites accessible. Some tools make this easy and efficient without disrupting website functionality. Navigating a website freely, without any barriers, is a right that every person has, but making the website accessible is not enough. The content must be made accessible as well, and it must be maintained to ensure inclusivity at all times. During this session, we will discuss achieving full content compliance by following a simple process to Find, Test and Fix! Find: how to find all documents hosted on a website. Test: evaluate the found documents and determine if they are compliant or not, and if not, Fix: provide a path for remediation.
