We hope you can join us for an important and timely discussion on feminist responses to Islamization and imperialism. While the conversation will consider Afghanistan, our speakers will also discuss their research and activism in relation to Iran, Pakistan, and Iraq. We will address some the ways in which Islamization, imperialism, and women's rights are entangled, and consider the possibilities for political action and transnational feminist solidarity. Dr. Liliana Gonzalez, Assistant Professor in the Department of Gender and Women's Studies at CSUN. Dr. Gonzalez will share her paper entitled "Feminicide at the Limits of 'El Narco' In Lourdes Portillo's Senorita Extraviada​ (Missing Young Woman (2001)." Participants will read the pre-circulated paper and discuss it during the workshop.
