“Banning the Leaf Blower: The Racial Politics of Suburban Affluence and Migrant Labor in Neoliberal Los Angeles"

Dr. Olmos will share part of his manuscript entitled "Banning the Leaf Blower: The Racial Politics of Suburban Affluence and Migrant Labor in Neoliberal Los Angeles." Dr. Olmos' research discusses the struggle over the leaf blower ban in Los Angeles during the late 1990's as an expression of larger conflicts over racialized migration, gendered labor markets, white property relations, and neoliberal urban governance.
