Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusive Practices for our CSUN Community
The CSUN Career Center stands united with the CSUN community against racism, injustice, and inequality.
The CSUN Career Center stands united with the CSUN community against racism, injustice, and inequality.
We strive to implement career development services through social justice and equity lens, stand as allies with traditionally marginalized communities, and be fully committed to affirming the CSUN values of equity, inclusion, and belonging.
- We commit to providing support and resources to empower all students and alumni to seek job and internship opportunities, which honor and respect their personhood.
- We recognize that racism and discrimination have been historically manifested in career services and the world of work. Occupational segregation, unconscious bias in hiring, and active discrimination are systemic barriers that traditionally marginalized populations have experienced.
- It is our individual and collective responsibility to identify and act to eliminate systemic racism, bigotry and inequities, and strive for a more inclusive and diverse world, and to reflect that responsibility in our programs, services, and spaces.

Our Values
- We value equity, inclusion, and dignity for all
- We believe that our differences make us stronger, wiser, and more compassionate
- We believe it is our responsibility to ensure that each student is able to learn about, and engage in, the career development process in an atmosphere of respect where each person feels accepted, valued, and safe
- We believe that creating a culture of respect will foster opportunities to learn from each other
- We believe that our words and actions matter as much as the absence of words and action
Our 2-Year Plan:
- Create an Inclusion and Anti-Racism Work Group within the Career Center
- Create a culture of inclusion:
- Produce regular opportunities to engage with students to assess the inclusivity of our work, spaces, and programs.
- Identify and further partner with employers who have strong commitments to inclusionary hiring practices.
- Monitor and publish user data and statistics on our programs and services; analyze data for DEI trends.
- Engage staff in ongoing training designed to guide our learning (and unlearning) of internalized bias and beliefs, including accountability and evaluative expectations for each staff member.
- Partner with a program representing traditionally marginalized students to review at least one career program and revise it to be more inclusive and culturally informed.
- Educate students on resources to seek job and internship opportunities, which honor and respect their personhood.
