Digital Storytelling - Part 1: Newsletter and Infographics

Limit: 50 participants 

Description: Learn how to use applications that highlight student creativity using infographics and unique newsletter presentations. We will go over Microsoft Sway, which is available to all faculty, students, and staff, as well as Canva which has a rich and comprehensive free version available. Hypothes.is is rapidly becoming known as “a peer review layer over the entire internet.” In this workshop, you will learn how to turn simple bits of informative texts into full collaboration stations, allowing both you and your students to publicly or privately annotate and highlight information within a webpage or pdf file. PollEverywhere is a tool that provides a safe platform to engage your students with various polling activities such as word cloud, questions, and Q&A. Students can respond on their computer, iPad or mobile phone and the instructor can link the activities to Canvas grading to give students credit for their participation. This workshop will cover how to get started with PollEverywhere, how activities such as word cloud work, and how to create these activities.

Creating Interactive Video with Canvas Studio

This workshop is offered for enrichment and does not include a stipend.

Canvas Studio is a tool that allows you to engage with your students using video. You can record yourself and your computer screen, share videos with your students and incorporate questions into your videos to create engaging and impactful learning experiences. Canvas Studio also offers analytics, so you easily and quickly analyze what videos students are viewing, how long they are viewing, and when they stop viewing.
